Are you licensed and insured?
Aspen Industries of Colorado, LLC is a licensed and insured contractor with the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department. Owner, Justin Myers, has a Home Builder's License, Building C with the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department. Who obtains the permit and meets with the inspectors?
As part of our license, we must obtain the permit and meet with the inspectors for jobs that Aspen Industries of Colorado, LLC is the primary contractor. Homeowners are allowed to obtain permits themselves. If this is the case, then Aspen Industries would then work as a subcontractor to the homeowner and the homeowner would be responsible for meeting with the inspectors.
Do you offer a fixed cost quote for projects?
Aspen Industries of Colorado, LLC specializes in the remodeling area of construction. With remodeling there are always unknowns hidden behind walls and under floors. As a result, with large remodeling projects, there are sometimes additional work or changes in the scope of work as a result of what is uncovered. We believe it is best to use change orders or contract additions instead of fixed cost quotes in most cases. During our proposal process we thoroughly look at your space to gain information about what may be hidden behind walls and floors. Then based on this analysis determine the scope of work for the estimate. If changes are encountered during the course of the project, these changes along with cost are discussed with the homeowner and then agreed upon and a changed order/contract addition are signed before proceeding ahead. This ensures that both the customer and the contractor are on the same page at all times during the course of the project. This eliminates surprises at the end of the project.
Can I do some of the work myself?
Aspen Industries of Colorado, LLC has worked with many clients that have been an integral part of their remodeling project. With our contractor's license we have to do certain portions of the project according to our licensing. Examples of this would be structural framing, electrical work, HVAC, and plumbing work. Homeowners have done many items themselves like painting, trim work, flooring, etc. We are happy to work with you if you have the desire to do some of the work yourself. Our proposal typically have different portions of the project broken down so that you can see how much money you could save by doing that part of the job yourself.
Do you use subcontractors?
Most remodeling projects involve the use of subcontractors due to licensing requirements. Electricians and plumbers for example are required to be licensed and insured. This is separate from the general contractor's license. Therefore, we only used licensed and insured subcontractors. All of our subcontractors are independent owner/operated business or family owned business. Our subcontractors must share the same values and principles as we do because they are an extension of our business. We use the same subcontractors on every job and therefore have developed a strong relationship with them.
How will you have entry access to my home while I'm at work?
If you do not have the luxury of being home during the day, we offer a variety of ways in which we can gain access to work on your home. The most common way is for us to use a key box similar to a Realtor key box that resides at your home. We can then gain access through the combination on the key box to perform our work while you are not at home. Another option is to have a neighbor, friend, or family member give us access to work while you are away.
If necessary, will it be easy to get in touch with you on daily basis?
The owner and contractor of Aspen Industries of Colorado, Justin Myers, is involved in every aspect of the project and if he is not on site to answer questions he can always be reached via cell phone.
Will my home be protected and kept clean during the project?
One of the most repeated comments that we receive from our customers is how happy they are that we clean up after our selves. Most contractors only carry a broom. We are different in that we always clean up after ourselves. One of our most commonly used tools is our vacuums. Drop clothes are laid out where there is high traffic in finished areas. As with every remodeling project it is usually dusty if there is demolition involved. We strive to keep your home as clean as we can throughout the remodeling process as we know that it can be stressful during this time for you.
What forms of payment do you accept and what is the payment schedule?
Aspen Industries of Colorado, LLC accepts cash or check as forms of payment. For larger jobs Aspen Industries typically works off of the draw system, in which payments are collected at various stages of the the remodel process. For smaller jobs there is typically a deposit and then final payment due upon completion of the work.
Do you offer a warranty?
Our standard warranty is 2 years. This covers our workmanship and products used in your project. Many materials come with longer warranties and if any issue arises after the 2 year warranty we are happy to work with our customers and suppliers to ensure their happiness.
Do you have any references I can contact to discuss your work?
